Children’s Home Society (CHS) is excited to share that with the generous support of businesses and individuals across the state, the 2024 Caring For The Kids events held on August 4 and 5 raised $464,163.87.
“We’re extremely grateful to our donors, board members, staff, volunteers, and friends for making this year’s celebration a success,” says Chief Philanthropy Officer Jon Mammenga. “These contributions help fund our programs, to allow us to prevent, treat and heal trauma for the children and families we serve.”
Longtime advocate and emeritus board member Linda Mickelson Graham was honored with a tribute video during the banquet. Linda served on both the Children’s Home Society Board and the Children’s Home Foundation Board for a combined total of 30 years. An anonymous donor gave $50,000 in recognition of Linda’s dedication to Children’s Home Society.
Guests had the opportunity to participate in a live auction, silent auction, wish wall and listen to a domestic violence survivor tell her story. The celebration also included a car raffle for a 2023 Subaru Solterra Limited, donated by Schulte Subaru. Daniel Hodny from Minnesota was this year’s car winner. The following day, the annual Caring For The Kids Classic was held at the Country Club of Sioux Falls. More details from this year’s event can be found here.
